Daycare center Väinämöinen is a winning entry for architectural competition for the  City of Kuopio, in Finland. The playful shape bears resemblance to a traditional Finnish wooden instrument “kannel”, yet the load-bearing structure is simple and rational. The complex offers a stimulating and home-like environment for learning and play. Art and architecture have been smoothly combined in the form of drawings made by children in the concrete facades of the ground floor.
