Fotografiska Tallinn’s PLAY exhibition brought international photographic art to Oulu as part of the Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture programme. PAVE Architects designed the exhibition space at Kauppakortteli Pekuri, where the architecture extended the exhibition theme into a spatial experience. Varied circulation routes, viewing openings, low passages and tactile elements encourage visitors to explore the environment actively, while lighting and a soundscape created by Genelec build a multisensory whole. Architecture, light, sound and art come together to create an exhibition experience in which the space itself becomes an active part of encountering the works.
